Global Day Commitment

To become an official host site, your community must review the confirmation letter and and sign the registration form. You can receive both documents by filling-out the information form or emailing Gabriela Lupatkin at gabriela@1people1day.org.

The confirmation letter excerpted below details both what the Global Day office can provide and community responsibilities.

We look forward to your community’s participation in the Global Day of Jewish Learning, a once-in-a lifetime event that will gather Jews around the world in a day of learning. We hope it will also inspire a deepening of Jewish learning in your community.

To assist local organizations in their efforts, the Global Day office will:

  • Maintain a comprehensive website that will help recruit participants to your event;
  • Provide templates for promotional and marketing material and other background information as needed;
  • Develop innovative learning materials with lesson plans for the educators;
  • Host conference calls for local educators to review the curriculum and to plan their own sessions;
  • Host conference calls for local conveners to track progress and to encourage communities to share programs and information; and
  • Provide a webcast and videocast of Rabbi Steinsaltz’s completion ceremony.

In addition, the Global Day staff is available to assist communities with their planning and can attend local meetings (either over the phone or in person), as needed.

In order to be a site for the Global Day of Jewish Learning, we ask that:

  • You complete and sign the registration form. (Communities can only be registered as Global Day venues once we receive this form, signed by an authorized agency representative.)
  • At least one person from your community’s planning team participates in the Global Day conference calls for conveners (there will be three calls between March and November 2010).
  • You will receive a list of dates once your registration form is received.
  • You give us a report on expected attendance and program plans by November 3rd – four days prior to the event.
  • Within the week following the Global Day, you check back with us and let us know how the program went and how many actually participated. (These reports are very important to our stakeholders and will allow us to assess our world-wide reach.)
